Founder Clifton Berglee grew up on his family's homestead in northeastern Montana raising beef cows and dry land farming. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1979, and returned to grandfather's homestead, practicing large animal medicine seasonally and operating the 10,000 acre farm & ranch. Clifton ran his own cattle in North and South Dakota, Wyoming, and a dozen counties in Montana. The rugged life on the ranch chiseled the message "A man is only as good as his word."
Clifton received his real estate license in 1997 and formed Mont-Wyo West in 1998 with two partners. In 2001 Clifton and his family moved to Billings due to his health. After his two partners moved on in 2003, Clifton metamorphosed into Montana-Wyoming West.

Tammy's family has been in Montana for over 100 years. She was born and raised in western Montana into a hard rock mining family. Tammy became an auctioneer when she was 15 yrs old. She has been involved in ranching in Montana since 1978. In 1992 she joined a consulting firm and by 1995 became an Environmental Field Technician II for the company, performing soil and water sampling and doing numerous Site Investigations for the EPA all over the USA. She also installed and maintained Groundwater Recovery Systems for Montana Power Company and Pennsylvania Power and Light until 2002.
In 1998 she began her career in real estate, land development both buying and selling investment properties, while continuing to work part time for the consulting firm and working on the family ranch. In 2002 she bought a Dawson county ranch and raises Angus/ black baldy cows and Quarter Horses. She also loves to train her own horses, competes in team ropings and rodeos, as horses are one of her passions.
